Our Review of the Medifast Diet Plan

Medifast-Diet-Plan-3-Week-Diet-Success

The Medifast Diet Plan has often been recommended by physicians since its birth almost 30 years ago.  However, no diet plan is perfect!  For one thing, the meals are prepackaged and are prepared by adding water and then either zapping them in the microwave or refrigerating them.  Kind of reminds me of army rations!  Yes, the meals are supposedly nutritious and balanced.  But how about flavor and texture?  Just how long could you survive on such meals?

Yogurt Diet

Although this diet plan is designed to create a calorie deficit, you do get to eat six small meals each day to stave off hunger.  Five of those meals consist of the prepackaged foods and snacks.  Fortunately, you ARE allowed to eat one “lean and green” meal.  This meal consists of one lean meat plus salad and/or vegetables.  You can actually divide this meal up into two meals and eat it twice a day, combined with one of the prepackaged foods.  Eight glasses of water each day are also recommended for best results.

The Medifast Diet is geared toward quick weight loss in the initial stage.  Once you’ve reached your desired weight, the Medifast Diet Plan transitions into a weight-maintenance stage.  During this phase, you are reintroduced to foods that you were denied during the Medifast 5 & 1 phase.  Regular exercise is also encouraged to help you lose weight and keep it off.

Overall, the Medifast Diet Plan is a decent diet plan if you want to lose weight fast.  It focuses on nutrition and a balanced diet, which is very important to staying healthy while shedding those extra pounds.  It provides learning tools and online support to help you achieve your weight-loss goals.  The Medifast Diet Plan is a “doable” diet…at least, for the short-term.

The success rate for sticking with the Medifast Diet long-term is rather low.  After all, the prepackaged foods tend to lack flavor and appeal, and the caloric intake allowed makes this diet a borderline starvation diet until you finally make it into the transition phase of the diet plan.

Atkins Diet

Proof that the Atkins Diet Works The Atkins diet is probably the most controversial weight loss plan. But regardless of the countless ridicule by medical and nutritional experts, latest studies show that it work and gets results. Two studies in one of medicine’s most distinguished journals show it really does help people lose weight faster without raising their cholesterol. Research in a recent issue of the New England Journal of Medicine, found that people on the high-protein, high-fat, low-carbohydrate Atkins diet lose twice as much weight over six months as those on the standard low-fat diet recommended by most major health organizations. Atkins Diet Books have sold 15 million copies since the first one was published in 1972. From the start, doctors branded the Atkins diet foolish and dangerous, warning that the large amounts of beef and fat would lead to sky-high cholesterol levels. In both studies, the Atkins dieters generally had better levels of “good” cholesterol and triglyceri

Exercise and Diet Strategy

Diet and Exercise – Loose it the Smart Way Diet and exercise are essential for losing weight. It finally struck me that we have a serious weight problem in this country. I read that the IRS is going to give tax write-offs for certain diet and weight loss programs. If the Feds are willing to give up their precious revenue to encourage people to trim down, then the problem must be reaching epidemic proportion. According to a recent study by Tufts University, Sixty-three percent of men and 55 percent of women over the age of 25 are overweight . Nearly one-quarter are obese, meaning they are at least 30 percent over their ideal weight. “It really is an epidemic,” states James Hill, Ph.D., director of the Center for Human Nutrition at the University of Colorado Health Science Center. “If being overweight were an infectious disease we would have mobilized the country. We would have declared a state of emergency.” Exercise and diet are the only method to address this national crisis. Change y

Yogurt Diet

Once upon a time, it was believed that consuming too many dairy products would create too much fat on one’s body. Of course, too much of any kind of food can cause weight-gain! However, new discoveries have shown that including dairy in your daily diet can actually increase weight-loss! Yogurt is one of the best dairy sources to include in your weight loss plan. According to research conducted at the University of Tennessee, individuals who included yogurt in their weight loss plans lost ‘significantly’ more weight than those individuals who merely cut their caloric intake. Michael Zemel, Ph.D ., professor of nutrition at the University of Tennessee, and his colleagues conducted a 12-week study on how including yogurt in a reduced-calorie diet may impact the rate and efficiency at which an obese person loses weight. Thirty-four obese adults were the subjects of this study. They were randomly divided into two diet groups. The results of the study showed that those who included yogurt in
